The Boston Celtics have recently begun their season as they come back to the league as returning champions. Their dominant performance in the 2023-24 finals makes them favorites in the upcoming season. They are known for their intense style of play and stifling defense.
Jayson Tatum is coming off of a finals appearance against the Mavericks in which he did well, but some say he underperformed. In fact he didn’t even win Finals MVP. This award went to Jaylen Brown, often relegated to sidekick. After that, he participated in the Olympics. He was on the winning team, but he had a shockingly low amount of play time, especially compared to Celtics teammate Jrue Holiday.
The Celtics are returning their massively successfull big three from last year. Tatum, Brown, and Holiday hope to repeat the season they had previously. Teams are forced to make changes to their play style when they play the Celtics.
Tatum, generally agreed upon as their best player, is known for his shooting capabilities from distance, as well as his ability to drive to the hoop. He is a dominant force on the court regularly placed among the top ten in the league.
Jaylen Brown is a player that people rarely put in the same category as Tatum, but is someone that any team would want in their line-up. He is an all-star nearly every season, and is an incredible shooter. Also, throughout his time on the Celtics, both his defense and driving have improved massively.
Jrue Holiday is newer to the team than Tatum and Brown. He played on the Milwaukee Bucks before joining the Celtics last year. He has great passing skills, but he is most known for his defense.
This past week, the Celtics got off to a hot start. They played the Knicks, a very good team. The Knicks recently acquired Karl Anthony Towns. Him paired with Jalen Brunson were thought to be an incredible duo. However, the Celtics demolished the Knicks. While doing so, they tied the all-time record for three point shots made in a game.
The Celtics are going to be a force this season. Only time will tell how much success they have. Go Celtics!
