Get Your Spirit On!

Get+Your+Spirit+On%21

Hey Gibbons!  Next week is Spirit Week!  This has been a Gibbons tradition for many years, and it is a great way to show Gibbons spirit!  Check out the schedule so that you can plan what you will wear each day!

Monday: Barbie VS Oppenheimer

Wear all pink or all black! Students can choose to wear pink Barbie-themed clothes to support Breast Cancer awareness, or black Oppenheimer-themed clothing to support “Black Out Bullying.” Students still need to comply with the dress code, as usual.

Tuesday: Halloween Costume Day (UNICEF Donations)

Wear your costume on October 31, with a dollar donation to trick or treat for UNICEF. Gibbons participates in this fundraiser every year in order to raise money to help children all over the world. So, dress up and bring in a dollar for a good cause! Check out the UNICEF website for more information: https://www.unicef.org/what-we-do

Costume Rules:

Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning.  This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting at desks, or prevent participation in physical education class.

Costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.

Costumes must be middle-school appropriate.

Costumes may not promote violence or have accessories or props that could  be used as a weapon.

Wednesday: Student and Teacher Swap day!

This is the day that teachers will dress as students, and we will dress as teachers! Wear business casual clothes, ties, anything you think teachers wear! You can also just copy the style of your favorite teacher.

Thursday: Pajama Day

This day you have to come in pajamas! Come in your favorite slippers, robe, blanket, and/or pajamas!

Friday: Color Wars!

This is a battle between every team!  We will wear our team’s color, and we will battle for who has the most team spirit!  We will share who the winners are at the end of the week!

Be sure to show school spirit and participate in Spirit Week next week.

We will update what’s going on every day and we will post pictures!  We can’t wait to see you with all of your costumes and festive-wear!

Hi! My name is Theertha Nair, and I'm in 7th grade on the Yellow Team. I've always enjoyed writing, and when I learned that there was a school newspaper in Gibbons at the beginning of 6th grade, I was ecstatic. This is my first year doing journalism, and I'm loving it already! I play two styles of violin; Western Classical, and South Indian classical. In my free time, I enjoy a lot of things; baking, cooking, drawing, reading, biking, and basketball. I'm hoping that Gazette will help me get better at writing! Some of my favorite books are Song for a Whale, Benefits of Being an Octopus, and the Time Castaway Trilogy.
