Have you ever wondered what some of the most popular shoe brands are right now in Gibbons and the rest of the world? Do you think that shoes are boring? To the first question–probably not, because the word “popular” implies that you already know all those popular shoe brands. To the second question–yes maybe in your opinion shoes are a boring topic, however maybe we can change your thought on it. If not, whatever! Hopefully this article will give you insight on the history and facts about these brands, and maybe make the topic of shoes a little more interesting than it actually is. This is my opinion on each shoe:
Sambas
Sambas, released from Adidas, are one of the most trending shoes right now. Sambas were initially created to suit the purpose of soccer players playing on ice-covered fields, however over time it evolved into shoes worn for everyday purposes. The name, “Samba” originates from Brazilian culture, referring mainly to Brazilian dance (Samba) and music, to represent the hosting country of the World Cup. According to the HBX website on Adidas, Sambas are the second best selling sneakers and they vary in many different colors and styles to fit your style!
Crocs
Crocs, comfortable, yet basic, are commonly worn among people everyday whether it’s for casual wear or for playing sports. Crocs are lightweight and odor-free (something that isn’t typically common among shoes) and vary in color and design. There are more than 120 different styles of Crocs and over 100 million sold worldwide! There are two known “modes” of Crocs, sports and casual. The strap is adjustable, so you can switch between the two modes. The reptile creature you see on the logo is in fact a crocodile, which can live in two different environments just like the purpose of Crocs! You’ve probably never asked yourself what Crocs are made of. Well I’ll answer it anyway… They are made of a material called Croslite, stated on the Croc website. Something special about Crocs is that you can customize them with Jibbets, charms that can be easily added onto the holes of the Crocs!
Yeezy
Everyone adores slides due to the comfort they provide and easy movement. Yeezy, the famous brand known for its amazing slides, has topped the charts! Kanye West is the founder of the brand, and created Yeezys all the way back in 2013. Yes, Kanye West is also an American rapper and songwriter. The Yeezy brand went so wild that more shoe brands were inspired by their creations. Adidas and Crocs had taken inspiration from this brand, and applied it to their own shoes! Yeezy shoes are structured to be sleek and simple, but in a way that’s eye catching and attracts more customers. Most people, globally, wear them for running errands, at home, etc. The company offers numerous choices of their shoes in varieties of colors and sizes. So far, the company of Yeezy can be sold for up to 2.27 billion dollars.
UGG
What’s the origin of the all popular boot brand UGG? Well, in 1978, Brian Smith dreamed of comfortable shoes that could be worn at the beach. Now, his “dream” has changed from its use for beachwear to everyday styles for people worldwide! UGGs are multifunctional boots that can be worn both outside and inside. If you were to ask us to think of three words to describe UGGs, I would say: soft, comfortable, and unique. Uggs come in a range of different types, sizes and designs. These boots are for warming feet and are very durable. Based on the UGG website, UGGs have amazing quality and have influenced new styles! These boots give cozy winter vibes if you ask me… I want a pair.
New Balance
New Balance shoes are commonly known as “popular sportswear,” and are built for both stability and speed. According to the news and education website Heddels, New Balance is one of the largest sneaker brands in the world and has different sneaker styles for both women and men. They are known for their comfortable and high quality shoes which vary in different designs. Did you know that New Balance has been in business for over 100 years? Crazy isn’t it? Not only do they sell their iconic shoes, but have clothing as well. Also, New Balance is a Boston brand.
Nike
Are you ready to hear the largest and best sportswear brand globally? Drum roll please… It’s Nike! Nike was originally created back in 1962, and hit massive sales after Micheal Jordan signed a brand deal with them in 1985. Nike expanded beyond sneakers to also selling T-shirts, leggings, socks, hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers, sweatpants, and etc. No wonder these high quality products are globally recognized and super popular. Wow.
Converse
This shoe brand was bought by Nike recently… can you guess which one? Converse evolved from sportswear into casual and everyday use sneakers. Converse has collaborated with many artists such as Billie Eilish and Tyler the creator. On their website, they mention that Converse focuses on creativity and changing. They have a collection of different shoe styles and a variety of colors and patterns. These shoes have an iconic star logo on the shoe.
