Looking for a good murder mystery movie? How about the Knives Out movie series directed by Rian Johnson? The movies follow Detective Benoit Blanc played by Daniel Craig. He is a renowned private investigator easily recognized for his Southern accent! There are three films: Knives Out, The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and the newest one, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
In the first movie, renowned crime author and millionaire, Harlan Thrombey, is found dead after his 85th birthday. Harlan’s family hires Blanc to figure out who killed Harlan. As the plot goes on, we figure out that Marta gave him the wrong drug and too much of it. Marta is the killer, or is she?
In the second one, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) investigates a murder among a group of wealthy “disruptor” friends on a private Greek island. Tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites them for a game, but real intrigue ensues when disruptor Duke Cody is killed via severe allergic reaction. Now it is up to Blanc to find out which one of Duke’s friends killed him. This movie explores themes of greed, power, and the idiocy of the super-rich.
The latest movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, is a locked-room whodunit based on faith, greed, and a staged miracle gone wrong. Detective Benoit Blanc investigates the murder of Monsignor Wicks, initially suspecting Father Jud. The plot centers on a stolen diamond, “Eve’s Apple,” and the death of the evil priest Monsignor Wicks.
